We must fully understand the importance of laser light safety:

1. Basic laser safety terms
The maximum allowable exposure (MPE) is the maximum amount of visible laser radiation that is not considered to cause harm during a given exposure time. In many European countries, these exposure limits may also be a legal requirement.

The MPE is 25.4W/m2 and lasts for 250 milliseconds, equivalent to 1mW on a 7mm circular aperture (the size of a human pupil). For shorter exposure durations, higher limits can be applied,

For example, when the beam scanning speed is fast and there is a suitable scan failure detector. Exposure levels above 25.4W/m2 are riskier, so caution and proper understanding of what is still acceptable must be used.

The nominal Eye Hazard Distance (NOHD) is the distance between you and the laser projector, which is considered safe if you are hit by a single beam at full power for less than 250 milliseconds.
